Bible Notes

Monday 9th September 2013

This week Tim encourages us with the story of Caleb as we seek to live out the life of faith no matter what lies ahead.

Bible Reading: Numbers 13:1-6
The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders.” So at the Lord’s command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites. These are their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zakkur; from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori; from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh…

Thought for Reflection
Just in case anyone wants some good names… There are lots more in the next few verses but it is Caleb I wanted to look at this week, one of a list of many old names but regardless of that, wait and see what happens! Often I feel quite insignificant and one of just a crowd but God makes a difference and can do that today.  (I am particularly attached to Caleb at the moment – stick with it and see why!)

Prayer
Lord your love and your call makes every one of us special. Help me to recognise that today.
