Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Wednesday 16th October

Bible Reading: Acts 3:6
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

Thought for Reflection: Helping others is important in its own right; it is good to be good. As a church we have been focussing recently a lot on community projects such as the Foodbank, Toddler Group, Street Pastors and so on and serving others through our daily lives. These are all highly valuable aspects of what we’re called to be but that’s not all we’re here for. As we do these we’re called to be alert for ways in which we can share Jesus and be open to the Spirit surprising us with his power. We are not simply another non-statutory volunteer body seeking to help others, but a royal priesthood, called to be a conduit between God and people and people and God.

Prayer: Spirit, as we relate to those around us, let us be open to the possibility of your working through us in either word or deed. Surprise us by your power!
