Bible Notes

John 14:27, Revelation 1:17-18 (25.11.16)

John 14:27 NIV
[27] Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Revelation 1:17-18 NIV
[17] When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. [18] I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

A week is not long enough to look at the times God encourages us not to be afraid – we would need at least 20 weeks just to look at the obvious ones! Here are two words from Jesus – the first as he was facing betrayal, mockery, suffering and death and the second when he stands in resurrection power in glory surrounded by the worship of heaven. What does he say? Do not be afraid…….. He gives peace in a troubled world, victory in the ultimate battle, hope in a scene of despair. This is our God.

Jesus be the centre……..
