Psalm 127:1-2 NIV
[1] Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. [2] In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.

Houses are built on foundations. The houses that best withstand storms are those with foundations fixed into the bedrock beneath. Nor will our faith withstand violent storms in life unless it is just as fixed to the solid rock of prayer, study of God’s word, fellowship with other Christians and sacrifice for the sake for the Gospel. But the Lord does watch over his people as they pray and practice being in the presence of God – the Church’s one foundation because we are a new creation in Christ.

Jesus, be my one foundation because I offer you my all; lifting my face to you in prayer and breathing in the Holy Spirit I give glory to God who makes all things right.
