1 John 4:9-10 NIV
[9] This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. [10] This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

All children at times look for reassurance that they are loved by those closest to them – looking for the obvious and more subtle signs of love. We know that true love, especially that of a loving parent to a child is unconditional, expecting neither thanks nor reward. God who created and loves us knows everything about us. He gave us irrefutable proof of his unconditional love – asking nothing in return he sacrificed His son so that we might be saved and come into glory in His presence.

Lord grant me the grace today to love you as you deserve to be loved.
