Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Psalm 139:23-24 (08.12.17)

Psalm 139:23-24 NIV
[23] Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. [24] See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

We are all susceptible to the idea that everything is just fine – so long as we maintain a good front. Worries and problems are to be contained, kept under control, so our thinking goes. But God knows how damaging this is to our health, wellbeing and relationships and we are prompted here to be honest before God. “Search me and know my heart, test me…” is about asking God for help to face up to reality and correct whatever is wrong – an essential first step in our journey towards holiness and living in the presence of God.

Lord, I am open to your scrutiny and search of my heart. Let me know your will for me and in your grace, I will be led by you in the way everlasting.
