Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Luke 9:33-35 (29.08.18)

Luke 9:33-35
33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.) 34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

Stunned by what he had just witnessed in the transfiguration of Jesus and feeling the need to respond somehow, Peter came up with the idea of building a memorial but that idea was literally smothered from within the cloud as they heard that Jesus is God’s son and they were to listen to Him. Peter’s suggestion disappeared in the face of God’s command. So too we must seek the face of God and His will in all we attempt to do.

Jesus be in my heart and in my understanding. Teach me your ways and guide my steps so that you are glorified by what I do and all that I say.
