Psalm 63:9-10
9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.
I can’t say I’ve ever heard that prayer in a Sunday service, you’re all too nice and lovely for that. But I bet sometimes beneath polite exteriors, our thoughts and longings are perhaps a little more angry or vengeful or selfish. But God knows our secrets, anxieties, anger, doubts and disbelief. The good news is he loves us still. How do I know? Because he hears and responds to our prayers. Therefore we can bring our true feelings, our true desires and our true fears before him, good or otherwise. Don’t pretend, there’s no point. And as we do, he’ll love us still, and take what we offer and answer or safely deal with it.
