Bible Notes

Matthew 6:7 (04.10.18)

Matthew 6:7 (NIV)
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

I am sure I am not the only one who find the prayers of others both inspiring and daunting. Inspiring because they are heartfelt and beautifully put, and daunting because my prayers always sound clumsy and short and frankly not very good next to them. Let me let you into a secret – I suspect almost everyone feels this way, even those we admire as great prayer warriors! I find comfort in this brief passage – God it seems is happy with concise prayers! Yes, he is the Lord Almighty, worthy of our respect, honour and praise, yes, we should come with humility and not take prayer for granted, but he is also our Father. We don’t need to win his ear, or argue our case, we already have it and he is on our side.

Thank you that you are listening out for us Father. This is what I want to share with you today…
