Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Luke 22:31-32 (18.10.18)

Luke 22:31-32 (NIVUK)
31 ‘Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.’

It is the Last Supper. Everything is about to kick off. Judas is about to betray Jesus and the disciples are going to be tested in their resolve to follow Jesus. At this tumultuous moment Jesus reveals that he has been praying for Peter’s faith, that he would have the strength to persevere and lead the church. As always, what a wonderful insight into Jesus’ character – more worried about the church than about himself.

Take a moment to pray for our family, particularly those going through testing times, that they may have the faith to persevere and play their part in building God’s Kingdom.
