Bible Notes

Matthew 18:1-5 (17.06.19)

Matthew 18:1-5 NIV
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” [2] He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. [3] And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. [4] Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. [5] And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

I can’t help but imagine an episode of The Apprentice when reading this, picturing the competitors doing whatever they can to discredit each other and climb over each other to get to the top. In contrast, think of how young children look up to adults. How does Jesus call us to be, those desperate to been seen on top or ready to trust and put others first.

Thank you Jesus that you didn’t seek greatness and instead put us first.
