Romans 6:3-4 NIV
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? [4] We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
‘Baptism’ means ‘to be immersed’ – baptism symbolises our desire to immerse ourselves in Christ. By immersing ourselves in him, by identifying with him, what happens to him happens to us. Just as he died and rose again, so we too die to our old lives and start living a new life, life in him.
Give thanks for the life that Jesus gives us, and for Gina’s baptism yesterday – pray that we may all be drawn closer to Jesus in our understanding and deeds.
