Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Monday 7th October 2013

This week we look at one of the great characters of the Old Testament, Elijah.

Reading: 1 Kings 17:1-4
[1] Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” [2] Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: [3] “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. [4] You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”

Thought for Reflection: Here is our introduction to a great man of God about whose training and background we know nothing! He comes with a knowledge of God that has developed in secret and he speaks for God and God provides for him…..

Prayer: Lord make me ready for whatever you have for me to do or say for you today.
