Bible Notes

Reading: 1 Kings 18:20-21,39
[20] So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. [21] Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing……
[39] When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”

Thought for Reflection: This is one of the great Old Testament stories and well worth reading in full! God demonstrates his power, Elijah shows his faith and the people are brought back to God. Today in lots of small ways we may face this crossroads – Gods way or the way of the world? God has revealed himself as a God of love and power – let’s choose his way today!

Prayer: Lord, help me to know your presence today so that others may realise that you are God.
