Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 21:22-25

Don’t forget it’s Christmas SHINE! this Sunday – hope as many of you as possible can join us as we celebrate with our local community. This is a great chance to invite friends and family to join us.

1 Peter 2:9 NIV
[9] But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Revelation 21:22-25 NIV
[22] I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. [23] The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. [24] The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it. [25] On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.

So here is the hope that keeps us going through the dark times of Advent – God has called you into his wonderful light and look ahead – there is going to be a day when the darkness is banished and the Lord almighty gives unfailing light. A day of peace, security and delight as God delights in you – his special possession! Rejoice – the light shines in the darkness!

Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings;
It is the Lord, who rises with healing in His wings:
When comforts are declining, He grants the soul again
A season of clear shining, to cheer it after rain.
(William Cowper)
