Hebrews 13:5-6 NIV
[5] Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” [6] So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
What matters to us? Is it wealth, power, influence or something else? A well-known verse in the bible runs: Where your treasure lies there will your heart be also. William Wordsworth famously expressed the same thought in a poem called, “The World Is Too Much with Us” in which he said, “late and soon, getting and spending we lay waste our powers…” So, where does our heart lie? Are we content with what we have, or waste our powers in pursuit of the world heedless to the promise of God? What He offers is beyond what money can buy. He will stand with us, never leave us stranded nor forsake us.
Father into your hands I place my life. You are my helper. Lead me in your love, guide me and show me how you would have me live for you.
