Ephesians 4:11-13
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Through Grace God gives the church everything it needs for ministry and growth. The purpose is, through the gifts of the Holy Spirit to grow the church and keep it together, ensuring unity of belief, correctness and consistency in biblical teaching. This calls for effective discipling of the people of God to help their faith and their understanding of God deepen and mature. We should, writes Paul, seek to become mature Christians with a deep understanding of Christ.
Lord, by your grace, in praying for church unity, help me to keep attentive to my spiritual life and get to where you would want me to be.
