Bible Notes

Acts 1:5,9-11 (12.04.18)

Acts 1:5,9-11 NIV
[5] For John baptised with water, but in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.” [9] After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. [10] They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. [11] “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

The disciples had been on a roller coaster ride hadn’t they? They had been told not to look for Jesus among the dead because he was alive….now they are told not to stand gazing into the sky! Where we look is important! We can spend our lives looking for security in dead things or we can sit around looking back to some mountain top experience but Jesus is alive and Lord of today! There is a job to do and we can experience the power and presence of God today in all the small and great things we are facing.
Look to the Lord today and see the difference he makes!

Jesus, be the centre
Be my source, be my light
Jesus
Jesus, be the centre
Be my hope, be my song
Jesus

Be the fire in my heart
Be the wind in these sails
Be the reason that I live
Jesus, Jesus
