Acts 2:5-8
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
I can’t help but here a smear here on the disciples – what’s going on, these men aren’t special, in fact worse than that, they’re Galileans! These are the country-bumpkin neighbours to the sophisticated city-dwellers in Jerusalem and their metropolitan visitors. Of course, Jesus received the same treatment too. But this is what makes what God does even more special. Through his Holy Spirit, God can and does use anyone for his work of Kingdom building, none of us, even those of us of more lowly backgrounds, are beneath him.
Heavenly Father, in your grace, use me.
