1 John 3:1 NIV
[1] See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:16-17 NIV
[16] This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. [17] If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
[18] Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
How do we know we are loved by God? Jesus went to his death in our place – he bore the penalty of our sin so that we could be free and be called the children of God.
How do we know that we love God? By our relationships and reactions to others. Love changes things and our lives should be different because we love God and because we know he loves us!
Lord Jesus as I see your love for me that knows no limit, so let my love for others overflow in worship to you.
