Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Acts 8:34-35 (31.05.18)

Acts 8:34-35 NIV
34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

For the Eunuch, the good news about Jesus was more that just (just?!) that through Jesus’ death we can be forgiven and through faith in him, we can know resurrection just as he was raised. For the Eunuch who was cut off, excluded from God’s People due to his condition, Jesus as one who was excluded himself, gave him the chance to be included! As we share our faith, let’s pray that the Spirit will show us how Jesus is specifically good news for the people we are speaking to and the culture we are working within.

Father, thank you for the good news that Jesus is for us (name it – what does he mean to you) – help us to see what your Son means for the people we meet today.
