Matthew 7:13-14 NIVUK
13 ‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German theologian and pastor, spoke of the scandal of cheap grace. He warned that although God freely forgives us, that doesn’t mean that we can live how we want. No, God calls us to a demanding life, the life of sacrificial love. This will cost us and demand our focus and effort.
Father, thank you for your Son who gave his all for us. In the power of your Spirit, may we give our all for you in return.
