Bible Notes

Matthew 10:1-4 (01.04.19)

Matthew 10:1-4 NIVUK
1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and illness.
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Jesus gives his stamp of approval to the Twelve and sends them out to continue his work, and what amazing work it is too! The most amazing thing to me though, is not the work, the the people he calls, a group of normal folk, some of them successful, but most of them just muddling through in by hook or by crook (and some of them are, crooks that is). This to me is great encouragement. Jesus isn’t looking for experts or perfect people, just those who are willing to follow.

Spirit, show me the way and I’ll do my best to follow.
