Matthew 13:51-52 NIV
“Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked. “Yes,” they replied. [52] He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”
Jesus and the Kingdom he is ushering is not a rehash of what has been before. He does not come discarding what has been either, the story of God’s dealing with his people in the past leads up to him, he is its fulfilment. Instead he comes bringing something new that builds on this, a new deeper living relationship with his Father through him.
Father, help us to grasp the old and what it offers, but also the new and Jesus’ transforming love.
