1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Sometimes it is said that love is blind, that it’s oblivious of the faults in others. Paul seems to be saying something different here. It seems to me that love does see the faults in others, but chooses to not to use them to denigrate them or to promote itself. Is that a lesser love? No, it is a greater, truer love, a love that reflects the grace of God who sees our faults and reaches out for relationship rather than condemnation.
Father, help me to see and in seeing choose to love as you do.
