Matthew 24:4-5 NIV
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. [5] For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.
Looking ahead to the turbulence to come after his death, Jesus warns the disciples not to seek another ‘messiah’, another leader to take his place. We may not face the same turmoil as they did, but it is still tempting for us to look elsewhere for the security, hope or direction that Jesus provides. Such searching will always be in vain, only he is the way, the truth and the life. Let’s not be tempted to look elsewhere.
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
