Psalm 6:1-4,9 (10.01.20)

Psalm 6:1-4,9 NIV
[1] Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. [2] Have mercy on, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. [3] My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? [4] Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love……….. [9] The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.

When the psalmist wrote these words he had clearly messed up and was feeling pretty low but see the end result – he called to the Lord for mercy and was heard and accepted! Because of Jesus we can be sure that there is no place so dark as to be beyond his light and no sin so great as to be beyond his forgiveness – he hears!

Come let us sing of a wonderful love,
tender and true;
out of the heart of the Father above,
streaming to me and to you:
wonderful love
dwells in the heart of the Father above.
(Robert Walmsley)
