Genesis 1:26-27 NIV
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Not only does being made in God’s image mean that we’re made for community, just as God is Father, Son and Spirit in loving relationship, but we’re also made to rule – God has called us to rule over the world he has created. But here’s the thing, we’re to rule in his image – to rule creation as he does – and this means to care for it, seek its best, to serve it.
Father, what can I do to take care of your world today?
