Genesis 4:13-17 (06.03.20)

Genesis 4:13-17 NIV
Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. [14] Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” [15] But the Lord said to him, “Not so ; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over. ” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. [16] So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden. [17] Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch.

Just because we mess up doesn’t mean that God doesn’t care about us anymore, and doesn’t just because we’ve messed up doesn’t mean that we can’t be productive anymore. Here Cain is protected by God, similar to how he clothed Adam and Eve when they were thrown out of Eden, and he has children, the Bible’s way in that era of saying God blessed him and he was fruitful for him. If you make mistakes, don’t give up, instead trust in God.

Father, help us to give others second chances as you have with us.
