Bible Notes

Acts 20:31,37-38 (24.03.20)

Acts 20:31, 37-38
[31] Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace … [37] They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him. [38] What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

During this crisis, in our more pessimistic moments we may wonder if we will ever again see some of those we love – family members who are elderly or in poor health, or fellow believers whom we are no longer able to see each Sunday. The elders of Ephesus knew that they would never ever see him again because it was clear that the authorities would arrest him on account of his bold witnessing to the power of the Lord Jesus. But even in that worst-case scenario, Paul encouraged them to put their trust in God and his grace, and we must do the same, even in these difficult days.

Lord, I entrust this day to you.
