Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

John 18:1-5 (21.05.20)

John 18:1-5 NIV
[1] When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it. [2] Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. [3] So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. [4] Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” [5] “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)

At the centre of our Life is this fact – Jesus has been ahead of us! He walked the valleys, suffered beyond our imagining, reached into the darkest places and brought his light, his love and his hope. He knows where we are and what we are going through and  is with us always. This is a message to share in these troublous times – God has not, and will not, abandon those who call on him. Let his light shine on you, in you and through you today – it transforms every valley!

Lord Jesus, your love and compassion transformed so many lives when you walked here; let us know your transforming power at work in our generation and lives we pray.
