Proverbs 18:15 NIV
The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.

A dog following its nose to find the source of an interesting scent is a familiar one. Proverbs paints an alternative scene, an ear hunting out wisdom. Wisdom comes through listening to others. But note the important caveat – sift through what you hear, just because someone says something doesn’t mean its necessarily true, or worthwhile, or valuable, or the whole picture, especially in our social media sound bite age. As Christians, part of this process is weighing up what we hear alongside what God has revealed to us in his Scriptures.

Knowledge is a wonderful thing, and the most wonderful knowledge is knowing you Lord!
