Romans 12:2 (29.07.20)

Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I was fascinated by neurology at University, the way our brains and nervous systems work. The human brain is the amazing machine that controls and drives our lives, a computer beyond anything we can make and still a great mystery to us. As we grow and develop, our neural pathways gradually become fixed and reinforced, meaning the way we think and behave becomes settled – one of the reasons that it becomes harder to learn new things and change our outlook as we get older. But in Romans Paul tells us that in Christ there is the possibility of having our minds renewed, having our settled ways of thinking and behaving transformed, and transformed for the better! There are many aspects of this, but key to it is reading and reflecting on the Bible, together and with others.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your written Word, the Bible, and Jesus, your Living Word whom it points towards and reminds us of. Renew us as we read it.

Ps. Don’t forget to pray for and promote the Alpha Course…
