Isaiah 40:9 & Mark 1:16-18 (20.08.20)

Isaiah 40:9
You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, ‘Here is your God!’
Mark 1:16-18
16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’ 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.

Twenty-six years ago Kate and I got married. Meeting her changed my life. She’s my best friend. She knows me better than anyone else, and yet still loves me. She’s given her life to me and I’ve given her mine. For me she has been great news and I’m happy to tell anyone about it.

Thirty years ago I became a Christian. Meeting Jesus changed my life. He’s my other best friend. He knows me better than anyone else, and yet still loves me. He gave his life for me, and I’ve committed mine to following him. For me he is great news and I’m happy to tell anyone about him – how could it be any different?

How about you?
