6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Here we have that great prophecy about the coming Messiah. God come down to earth, all powerful, full of majesty and might. And the depth of this prophecy is that to us a son is to be given. A son full of promise, the promise of greatness. Almighty God no less, yet a son given to the people of God. Such a truth brings us to our knees before God humbly to ask for his blessing so as to be well prepared to receive the King of Heaven and Prince of Peace this Christmas time.
Father may I be worthy to receive you. Show me your way. Help make your servant ready. Similar to the Centurion I pray, Lord I am not worthy to receive you under my roof, but only say the word and I your servant will be healed.
