Isaiah 11:1
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
Today we read a prophecy about the Messiah to come and through him, great things of consequence would be accomplished and many blessings flow. In signposting the One to come Isaiah foretells that this shoot from the stump of Jesse, the line of David, will be of great significance: the birth and life of this as yet unborn Son of God at Christmas would change the world forever and open the gates of heaven to all humanity.
Lord we wait on you in these days of Advent in the sure and certain knowledge that you are calling us to come and worship you.
