Isaiah 11:8-9
8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
9 They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
And here we have the culmination of this set of prophecies from Isaiah. The Messiah who will be born an infant will nonetheless possess all the power and authority of the Godhead from the moment of birth. He will play near the cobra’s den and be untouched even when disturbing a viper’s nest: the serpent, Satan, will have no power to kill nor visit harm on this infant Messiah nor any longer be able to offend the holiness of God. Though Jesus the whole world will be saved and come to know the God of Heaven and Earth.
Jesus Lord of all come into my life anew this Christmas-time so that I might praise and worship you now and for all eternity.
