Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Isaiah 55:6-7 (20.01.21)

Isaiah 55:6-7
6 Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Our seeking God and reaching out to him, is echoed by God. He too longs and searches for us – remember the Lord walking in the Garden looking for Adam and Eve, or the Father of the Prodigal Son looking out hopefully for his return – and as we turn to him in confession he turns to us with mercy and pardon. I love that Isaiah writes ‘our God’. We do not possess him, but through turning to him and receiving his forgiveness, we possess a relationship with him. He becomes our God and we become his people, he becomes our father and we his children.

Thank you Father for your freely given gift of forgiveness and relationship.
