Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Isaiah 1:15-17 (21.05.21)

Isaiah 1:15-17
15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.
Your hands are full of blood!
16 Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
17 Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

We’ve set aside Friday’s to pray for God’s vision and guidance for the church and this community as we open up from lockdown. What does he want our worship to look like? How should we live as a community? What should we keep from the last year, and what new things should we take up as well as what old things should we return to? As we pray, we also need to remember that we already know some answers. We are called to worship God, to love one another, to proclaim God’s good news, and to seek justice as Isaiah reminds the people in his day.

Thank you Father for prayer, and thank you for the call to action. Help us take up both today.
