Acts 2:13-15 (26.05.21)

Acts 2:13-15
13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!

This week I’ve been working on a new song that Lucy and Edith introduced us to at the prayer meeting on Monday. It’s taken a number of attempts to get it right as I naturally wanted to follow a slightly different beat to the one on the song and kept getting faster. Being different to how we are naturally inclined is hard. Some of us are natural comics or love an audience, but most of us prefer to stay obscured in the crowd, like everyone else. Jesus, however, called us to stick out, to be a shining light on a hillside not concealed in the shadow of everyone else. Are we prepared to follow even if that requires going against the dominant rhythm?

Spirit, help me to be free from fear or the need to conform, other than to your Kingdom that follows a different beat to the kingdom around us.
