Luke 17:11-14
11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus travelled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[b] met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
‘Show yourselves to the priest’. Just healing the men was not enough, as wonderful as it was. Their past condition would still exclude them from community life. For them to be reintegrated, a priest had to declare they were well. I love that Jesus was concerned about this! His concern is for reconciliation and life where all are welcome, valued and seen as equal.
Father, who are the excluded today? Spirit, help me to play my part in brining them back into community as Jesus did.
