Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

1 John 1:1-3 (22.09.21)

1 John 1:1-3
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us…

Why do we share our story? There are many reasons that we might consider. It might be because we are told to, driven by a sense of duty or guilt. It might be because we want to increase the number of people who come to church. It might be because we want people to know about Jesus. The list could go on. Some reasons are good reasons, some a little dubious perhaps. John offers us a great motive, because we want others to join our family so that they might share what we’ve been given with us, and so that we can enjoy walking the life of faith together, encouraging and supporting each other.

What better way is there to love others than to invite them into our family! Stir my love for others today, that I might seize the chances that arise.
