Bible Notes

1 John 1:5-6 (28.09.21)

1 John 1:5-6
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

If you look out on a clear night, you will see the Moon shining. Actually, you won’t, what you actually see is the Moon reflecting. It is not the Moon’s light, it is the Sun’s light reflecting off the Moon because the Moon has come close. The same is true of us and God. If we draw near to God, if we are in fellowship with him, then we will ‘shine’, reflecting his light. It’s nothing to do with us and everything to do with him. Of course, this works both ways. If we’re not reflecting his light, then we can’t be in fellowship with him, we’ve allowed something to come between us and block his light.

Spirit, help us to draw close to you today, so that as your church livingĀ out in the world, we may reflect your light upon the people we mix with and on the situations we find ourselves in.
