1 John 2:28
28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
Throughout this section of John’s letter he has been encouraging us to be faithful to Jesus, to remain in him, and not get distracted by following alternative voices, putting them in his place (antichrists). Why is this? Because not only do we get to know the Father through him, not only do we get the amazing gift of eternal life, but one day Jesus is coming back to be with us, and John wants to help us avoid what Peter went through meeting him on the beech post-resurrection having recently declared three times that he did not know him.
Spirit, help us to build our faith so that through being confident in Jesus now we will be able to be confident before him on that wonderful day when he returns to be with us again.
