Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Galatians 4:4-6 (01.12.21)

Galatians 4.4-6
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying “Abba! Father!”

We saw yesterday that the disciples knew Jesus the man but also saw his glory as the Son of God. Paul tells the Galatians that, by stepping into this world personally, God enables us to enter his family. Jesus came to achieve our redemption, something which was only possible because he became a man, so that he could die in our place. God had stepped into the world, but he also steps into our lives personally to make us his sons, in a relationship with him as our Father, which is only possible through the cross and the empty tomb.

Thank-you Father for sending your Son as an expression of your love for needy sinners! Thank-you Jesus for redeeming us at such a price! Thank-you Holy Spirit for drawing us into your family and giving us millions of redeemed brothers and sisters!
