Romans 15:13 (10.02.22)

Romans 15:13 (MSG)
Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!

Green hope, now that’s a potent description. What does it suggest to you? It suggests to me hope that’s alive, hope that’s growing, hope that’s fresh and vital, or hope that has the potential to develop. That’s the hope that God offers us, not a sterile hope or an old hope or static hope. Paul’s prayer is that his readers, now us, may be fuelled by our hope giving Father with joy and peace through his Holy Spirit. Father may that be so! But his prayer is for more than that, his prayer is that God’s welcome of us, his giving to us, will be so great that we cannot contain it and it will over flow like champagne down a pyramid of glasses from one to another to another.

Father, fill us and through us, fill those around us!
