Mark 16:6-8 (18.04.22)

Easter Monday!

Mark 16:6-8 (NIVUK)
6 ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ [the angel] said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”’
8 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

This reading is of course from Easter Sunday, but it looks beyond that, towards the disciples meeting the risen Jesus later on. He is not dead, he is not on the cross or in the tomb, but alive and at work in the world waiting to meet them there. Let’s not trap him again to the past, but be open to seeing him at work through his Spirit at large in the world in the days to come.

Open my eyes to see you, my heart to respond, and ready my hands and feet to work with you!
