Psalm 12:1-2 NIVUK

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful any more;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbour;
they flatter with their lips
but harbour deception in their hearts.
Sometimes it seems as if we live in an era when speaking truthfully is no longer so important. It feels as if our leaders sometimes simply say what they think we want to hear, or what suits them best. Before we point the finger, perhaps we need to take a long hard look at ourselves as well. Are we part of the culture that has allowed them to emerge?
Forgive us Father for our dishonest words. Today I will seek to serve others by speaking truthfully rather than lie to suit myself.
