Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Ephesians 1:8-10 (09.09.22)

This morning we give thanks for the life and service of Queen Elizabeth and pray for her family for comfort and strength as they mourn, and her son for wisdom and grace as he takes her place. May they find inspiration in her faith in Christ Jesus, our heavenly King.

Ephesians 1:8-10
On Sunday I used this week’s verses to introduce the service from The Message to make it more accessible to our younger members, so I’ve used that here as well, but putting the NIV alongside it so you can compare them.

(MSG) He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
(NIV) With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

God does not play his cards close to his chest, but has shared his plan with us, his plan to redeem, restore and make new his creation – including us – through Christ.

Thank you Father for the wonderful hope we have in you.
