Psalm 119:97-98 (NIVUK)
מ Mem
97 Oh, how I love your law!
I meditate on it all day long.
98 Your commands are always with me
and make me wiser than my enemies.
Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem, each section begins with consecutive letters of the Hebrew alphabet, here the letter מ or Mem. This form nicely ties in with today’s verses, which consider how the psalmist reflects on God’s word all day. God’s word is for the whole of life, every letter of the alphabet, not just Sunday mornings or church activities. Reflecting on what the Bible has to say to the different contexts we may find ourselves in from work, to home, to play, makes us wise, as we learn from God’s wisdom which encompasses the whole of the world he has made.
Spirit, help me make connections today between the places and situations I find myself in and the word you inspired.
